How We Test

Every ranking on this site comes from hands-on testing by the practitioner named on each review. They install each tool and run it against live traffic, including deliberately adversarial sessions — spoofed browsers, VPN and residential-proxy exits, emulators, and replayed abuse — before any score is assigned. Scores are set on a weighted rubric. The exact criteria and their weights differ by category and are published in the "How We Ranked" section of each individual ranking, so the standard you are reading is always the one that applies to that specific comparison. Vendor accuracy claims are discounted against what we measure ourselves; public documentation is used only to cross-check pricing and feature lists, and peer-reviewed research is cited on the page where it informs a method.
